FAQ
Common questions before a first call
For a single inline system, installation and commissioning typically takes one to two days. The sensor is designed for inline installation in an existing process line — no special pipework modifications are needed in most cases. DataInspectIR® is cloud-based, so there's nothing to install on your side. We configure it remotely and hand over a live dashboard within hours of the sensor going online.
Yes. For inline deployments, we typically offer a paid pilot on one asset — usually 30–90 days. This gives you real data from your process to evaluate performance before committing to a full fleet rollout. For portable, you can evaluate the analyser on your own fluid samples during a demo call before purchasing.
FluidInspectIR® is calibrated for a wide range of mineral oils, synthetic lubricants, and hydraulic fluids. Specific calibrations are available for diesel and gas engine oils, gear oils, hydraulic fluids, turbine oils, and FAME/biodiesel blends. If you're working with an unusual or proprietary fluid, let us know — we have a rapid calibration development process and can typically add a new fluid type in 2–4 weeks.
FluidInspectIR® uses mid-infrared (MIR) spectroscopy — the same fundamental technology used in many commercial laboratory analysers. For most parameters and fluid types, accuracy is within ±5% of laboratory reference methods (ASTM/ISO). The key advantage over lab analysis isn’t just accuracy — it’s frequency: inline systems measure every 2–10 minutes versus once per month for lab sampling, which means you catch changes the lab programme would miss entirely.
Yes. FluidInspectIR® Inline carries ATEX Zone 1/21 and IECEx certification, making it suitable for use in explosive atmospheres — including gas turbine enclosures, compressor halls, and oil and gas processing environments. Contact us to confirm the specific ATEX category and gas group relevant to your installation.
Yes — this is a core design goal. FluidInspectIR® Inline outputs data via Modbus RTU/TCP, OPC-UA, and 4–20mA, covering most SCADA and DCS systems directly. DataInspectIR® provides a REST API and webhook notifications compatible with SAP PM, IBM Maximo, Infor EAM, and custom systems. We can provide integration support during commissioning. Pricing depends on the number of sensors, installation requirements, and the DataInspectIR® subscription tier. We don't publish list prices because every application is different — but we're transparent about costs from the first conversation and will give you a clear itemised quote before any commitment. Most customers see payback within 6–18 months depending on asset criticality and failure history.
